About Ethel Pulous Leon Ethel Leon was born in 1920 in Portland, Oregon, the youngest of six children born to Greek immigrant parents. She worked in the Swan Island shipyards during World War II, for the Bank of America in LA, and owned the Beverly Hills Hair Salon in Milwaukie, Oregon for 35 years. Ethel toured Athens and Delphi before spending time on the Island of Rhodes in 1970 and there visiting her Aunt coula. She encountered many interesting and some frightening situations, which inspired her to write this mystery. In 1995 Ethel sold her beauty salon, which she had opened in 1960. She also retired in 1995 at the age of 75, then enrolled in Clackamas Community College and took classes in writing and computer basics. After finally completing The Gold Locket in 2007, Ethel plans on writing more books and indeed, the 88 year young woman already has notes and outlines for three more volumes.

About The Gold Locket A complex, sweeping Greek-AMerican family saga that combines mystery, romance, murder and historical fact. The Gold Locket tells the story of Althea Poulos, a young woman searching for truth. The action primarily takes place in Portland, Oregon in 1955, but flashes back frequently to 1926, and even to the nineteenth century. The characters' pasts and presents also bring them to Europe as the Nazis are beginning their rise to power, and especially to Greece, home of their extended family, both in wartime and post-war.
